Additional Information on Treatment Techniques
Implementation of manual therapy techniques mentioned will be primarily directed by but not isolated to an integrative systems approach. The use of IMT (integrative manual therapy) by soon to be certified primary therapist from the Connecticut school of IMT will be the primary diagnostic and treatment tool. IMT is a unique compilation of diagnostic and treatment methodologies, predominately hands-on, that assess and treat pain, dysfunction & disease. For more information on IMT please visit http://www.centerimt.com
Functional rehabilitation will focus on movement & body awareness while addressing underlying deficits including but not limited to respiration, posture, strength, ROM, & balance. Postural restoration techniques will be one of our major focuses in functional rehabilitation along with implementation of diagnostic assessments offered by these techniques to compliment IMT's diagnostic and treatment methods.
The goals of both the manual & exercise-based treatment are to implement one-on-one therapies that are the most effective and that can maximize the potential of each unique, patient's story.
Additional Information on Patient Population
All patient populations (adolescent to geriatric) with a wide variety of diagnoses (orthopedic to neurologic) are welcomed at FPT. The specialty areas of the primary therapist, however, include acute/chronic back pain, spine rehabilitation, athletic injuries and men & women's health. The acute/chronic back pain and spine rehabilitation will address all tissue associated with dysfunction and underlying systems. The athletic injuries will address both acute & chronic injuries of spine and extremities with the goal to return to sport ASAP. Finally, the men & women's health will focus on pre- & postnatal, pre- & post-surgical, pelvic/abdominal pain and the diagnoses associated with fertility issues, gastrointestinal dysfunction, & bowel/bladder dysfunction.
The "niche" of our practice is the implementation of the unique manual and exercise-based treatments that give profound & long-term results. The overall health and wellness of the individual will be addressed with the therapists working closing with nutritionists and physicians to properly educate patient and enhance optimal recovery.
